The only thing good about these is the warranty by: Dennis
I purchased the Amana ASX14036 with a new coil unit in July, 2009. I have a zone HVAC and this unit serves my downstairs. Fortunately I have a Trane upstairs serving the sleeping areas because I am now on my third Amana condenser IN 3 YRS. These things just keep going bad. My installer says this is the only one he's seen going bad like this but I can't be unique. My Trane has been in action 7 yrs now and it just keeps right on humming quietly along.

Sounds like either poor install or a crappy contractor by: Anonymous
It is silly to rule out and entire brand based on the performance of one unit. not only that but it sounds like your working with a crummy contractor and or initial install. i am a contractor from Florida and i have installed hundreds of this line of units and have very few call backs ever and i f i do the parts are always readily available at the amana distributors

I would not recommend this Unit by: Jim
Pros - worked fine at the beginning
Cons - does not blow out cold air

I purchased this unit from a local supplier named Cooks Heating and Air in Wichita, Kansas back on 9-18-08. It did fine that fall, as it was the end of Summer.
Now on 6-1-2009 I had to call Cooks Heating and Air to fix my new AMANA AC as it would not blow out cold air.
It worked ok from 6-1-2009 to 6-25-2009.
On 6-26-2009, I called Cooks heating and Air and ask them to come fix my new Amana AC they installed again, and I was told that I would be put on a waiting list till July 2009.
Something is wrong with this Unit as it does not keep my small home cool when the temperature hits 90-100 F degrees.
I would not recommend this Unit or Cooks of Wichita, Kansas to keep my home cool.
