B&Q BQWDH
This is a great little dehumidifier, suitable for anywhere in the house. We got it do dry out some damp patches on the walls and it has made a real difference. It is quite powerful, yet small and light enough to carry around into different rooms to use wherever it is needed. It does make a rather loud noise when running though, I don’t think I would be able to sleep in the same room as it while it is switched on.
The unit is very modern looking, despite mostly being made of beige plastic. The water collection bucket is an attractive smoked blue colour. It is quite small and unobtrusive and can quite easily be tucked up a corner out of the way.
Operation is very basic, just plug it in and off it goes! It sucks air in through the grill at the front, dries it out, then blows it out of vents at the back. There is a large clear plastic bucket at the bottom that collects the water. Once this is full it automatically switches off. The bucket holds quite a lot of water, so it doesn’t need emptying that often, only a couple of times a day if your house is quite damp.
This particular model has a humidity control on the top. This is really handy as you can set the control then leave it. When the humidity rises above a certain level it turns itself on, then back off again once the humidity drops. There is also a drain plug in the back, so you could hook it up to a drain hose and leave it switched on indefinitely. It is rated at 200 watts, but since it’s not on all the time I don’t think it actually will use this much power continuously.
