Comfort Aire 5200 BTU Window Air Conditioner
I have been using the Comfort Aire 5200 BTU Window Air Conditioner for about three years now, and it has proven itself to be sufficient. I live in a relatively small apartment, and since I am obviously only using it during the summer, it works well enough.
The electricity usage is not outrageous, and it cools the unit fairly quickly. I am not really very fond of the design, not that there are many options in the window air conditioner market, but this thing is not so terrible that the whole design of the room is thrown off. If you are in the market for a nice 1980s-computer beige, this is the air conditioner for you. If you have a refrigerator that is turquoise, wood paneling on the walls, and shag carpeting on the floors, this will really bring it all together.
It does sort of sound like a lawnmower most of the time, which can be pretty annoying. If you value your hearing, and hence your sanity, I would recommend another unit. If, however, you are like me, and only care about the pure dollars-to-coldness ratio, this unit is a good choice. If you are looking for something to drop on your foot, I would not recommend this window air conditioning unit.
If you are looking for something to carry up a long flight of stairs by yourself, again, I would have to advise against it. If you live in the antarctic, this may not be the appliance of choice for your living room. I mean it's freezing, why would you want an air conditioner.. you know? I think what you are looking for is a heater.
The Comfort Aire 5200 BTU Window Air Conditioner will not make your life more enjoyable at all. All in all though, it's adequate, but if you can spend more money on a nicer unit you probably should.
