I have been an apartment dweller for about 15 years and have lived in my fair share of places. One of the most important things that I always look for is a good air conditioner. I so not like the heat and most certainly do like the humidity. Some of the apartments I have lived in have had central air so a window mounted air conditioner was not needed. I moved into a new apartment complex last May that only had a wall mounted unit in the living room. While powerful, it was not enough to cool my bedroom too. I started researching air conditioners trying to find just the right one. After a lot of trips to different stores I decided I would get this Frigidaire. I can say that this is without a doubt the greatest air conditioner I have ever owned.

I purchased this unit for about 275 dollars online which I thought was a great price for such a feature rich unit. The air conditioner is built solid and feels like a well made product. It weighs about 80 pounds so it is a little heavy and depending on your size and strength may take more than one person to install. Once you have it secured in the window it is not going anywhere. This unit does a great job of fitting in the available space of the window without any rocking or sliding that some units I have had in the past did.

My bedroom is only about 450 square feet so this unit has more than enough power as it is rated for rooms up to 640 square feet. I believe this would cool up to a 700 square foot room comfortably. It cools my room quickly and efficiently.

I have read reviews online that some people think this is a loud unit but I do not feel that way. I do not watch television or listen to the radio in my bedroom so I cannot say how loud it is compared to a normal volume you may use but I think the unit makes a nice soothing sound that actually helps me get to sleep quicker.

My favorite feature is the remote control. There is just something very cool about lying in bed and controlling the air conditioner before going to sleep. There is also an auto on and off 24 hour timer which is great for me because I work long hours and I can just set the air conditioner to come on about an hour before I arrive home so my room is nice and cool. This is also a great way to save energy because I do not have to leave it running all day when I am not around.

The bottom line is that this is a great air conditioner at a great price. I have used it for one summer so far and honestly cannot find anything that I do not like about it. It will cool your room and save you energy which in turn will save your money (which in this economy is a great thing). I highly recommend this unit to anyone that is looking to buy one for a 450-700 square foot room!
