Frigidaire 5000 BTU Window Unit

I really like my Frigidaire window unit. While it is small it really does the job. I live in Alabama and we really need our air conditioning! Frigidaire says that it only cools a 150 square foot room but actual I use it to cool one entire side of my house, but then again I live in a slightly smaller house than some people around a 1000 square feet.

There are two speeds on the blower, for those times when you really need to crank up the cooling. And if you want to keep the air circulating when you don't actually need the temperature any cooler, it can run on fan only. Those of us from the South know that moving air ALWAYS feels colder than air that is just sitting there. You can change the direction the air blows out the vent too. Which is very handy if your window is in a corner or something.

There are no fancy sleep modes, remotes, or timing controls on this unit. But that's not all bad. It just means that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to operate it and that it cost a bit less than other models. Besides, who doesn't end up losing the remote anyway?

It does have all the important things: a one year manufacturer warranty(and those are getting to be rare these days), and an anti-microbial filter. The filter is very good for those of use with allergies as well.

It is energy star certified. So, you know that you are getting the best deal for your money energy wise.

It also comes with a quick mount window kit. At around 45 pounds, it helps to have a big strong neighbor who is willing to put it up for you, but that is light enough not to be an essential for most of us.

All in all, it is a great deal of air conditioner for small to medium sized room.
