Frigidaire FAC125P1A

ideal for small to medium rooms

This Energy Starcompliant Frigidaire Air Conditioner, with an Energy Efficiency Ratioof 11.0, has a cooling capacity of 12,000 BTU. It is designed for large rooms of up to 640 Square Feet and seems to be a very good unit for the price, and one that cools fast as effectively.

The Electronic Control it easy to operate and together with the Full Function Remote, this unit is very easy to operate.

The Three Cooling Modesand Variable Speed Fan are efficient to run and easy to operate as is the manually controlled 8-Way Directional Airflow.

For those with allergy problems, the Ionizer/Electrostatic Clean Air Filtration is a great feature as it ensures a clean airflow - and proper operation of the unit during voltage fluctuates is guaranteed with its LVC Technology.

Controls and Settings

The Electronic Controls, (which generally appears to be customers’ preferred choice over manual ones), are very easy to operate- especially when used in conjunction with the Full-Function Remote Control. Both the unit’s touch pad and the remote’s buttons have clear labels and recognizable icons on each pad / button.

It is very convenient to use the hand held Remote Control from a distance – especially in a child’s bedroom at night of when working at a computer, as it avoids to need to have to ‘squint’ down at the control panel on the unit.

One problem with the remote is that is makes a rather irritating and piercing ‘beep’ each time a selection is made.

The 8-Way Directional Airflow control is controlled manually and the air is channeled through two angled grills. Two auger wheels direct the air left and right while the two sets of the horizontal louvers are tilted to direct the air up and down.

An efficient and accurate Thermostat reliably cools the air to the required temperature and maintains it at that level.

The Energy Saver is a great little feature and cycles the unit on and off as room temperature alters. Other modes are the Fan OnlyOptions, which circulates air without cooling it, and the Cooling Mode, which has a choice of fan speeds, from 10 to 99.

It may be worth mentioning that certain customers have commented that there is hardly any change in the noise level of this unit from the lowest to the highest fan speed.

The Sleep Mode is another good energy saving feature, where the unit automatically raises the temperature very slightly and gradually overnight – which both maintains a cool room while saving energy.

The 24 Hour Timer is a useful energy saving feature, which can be programmed to switch on and cool the air, at a reasonable time before you return home.

There is a handy Digital Display on the control panel that shows the current temperature. This same display face momentarily shows either the set timeand the selected speed of the fan (from 10 to 99)

These figures are displayed while the time/fan speedsare being programmed into the unit, before reverting back to the original temperature display.

Sounds and Noise

When your purchase any air conditioner you will notice that the unit produces certain sounds or noises. These are generally associated with normal operational functioning.

Some customers complain that some of thesesoundsare far too noisy while others consider the cooling advantages outweigh the noise problem.

The sounds that may be heard on this unit are:-

A Gurgle or Hissing Sound. This sound often is caused by refrigerant passing through the evaporator.

The Sound of Rushing Air This is heard at the front of the unit and is caused by the fan blowing the air.

A High-Pitched Chattering Sound This sound occurs during the cooling cycle and is the result of little droplets of water falling onto the condenser.

A Pinging Or Swishing Sound This is likely to happen due to droplets of water hitting condenser during normal operation.

Piercing Beep (from the Remote Control) One customer commented on this piercing beep, which is emitted every time you use the remote control on this unit .This sound is not mentioned in Frigidaire User and Care Manual

Vibration This could be a cause for concern as it is most likely to be causedby incorrect installation or a poorly constructed window or wall.

Air Filters

The Clean Air Filter and its Clean Air Ionizer has been applauded by customers as a great and friendly feature, especially for those who have allergies.

With its easy Tilt Out Filter Access cleaning and replacement is simplified and the CheckFilter reset light/button is a useful reminder to check/clean the filter.

Remember that a clean filter contributes to efficient cooling.
