Frigidaire FAC126P1 - Compact Room Air Conditioner
by Terrie
(California)
This Frigidaire air conditioner is a great machine. I live in the desert on southern California, so it gets really hot in the summer time. We needed a window air conditioner in our converted garage and this machine does really well cooling the large space in a short amount of time.
You can control both the temperature and the fan speed with a remote control. It comes with a “sleep timer”, which is also controllable with the remote. You can set it to shut off up to 24 hours of when you set it.
The vents are all adjustable, so depending on where you are in the room, you can have the air flow directed at you at all times. You can also set it for “outside air”, or vent if it's not very hot outside but you want to keep the air moving in the room.
The side filters are movable and can either be flush again the window, or tilted out at an angle depending on your preference.
It was a bit heavy, but my husband had no trouble at all installing this air conditioner by himself.
The price isn't too bad for the 12,000 BTU slim-line model. We saw a lot of the same types from different companies that wanted almost twice what this one was. We had this air conditioner for about three or four years, and have not had any real problem with it. It does get loud at times, but that usually means you need to clean off the air filters.
It also tends to squeak or whine from time to time. Since we live in the desert, our machine runs almost constantly so the bearings are starting to fail. However, due to the decent price of the air conditioner, we plan on buying another one of the same type.
