Frigidaire, model No. FAA055P7A, window unit

I purchased my Frigidaire model FAA055P7A window mounted air conditioner last year (2008) when my electric bill became outrageously high. I had always used central air conditioning, and had my reservations about a window unit, especially considering that I live in Louisiana where the temperatures can stay in the 100s for weeks on end. That being said, I am pleased to say that I have been extremely pleased with this air conditioning unit.

This model was not very expensive in comparison to other models (about $120). It cools very efficiently and covers a large area for such a small unit. It completely cools both my kitchen and living areas, which is roughly a 600 square foot area. The temperature is adjustable, and there is an energy saver setting that allows the unit to cycle off whenever an adequate temperature has been reached. There is also a sleep timer you can use to have the unit cycle off in half hour increments, as well as another timer where you can have it cycle back on in the morning (or whenever you need).

An air conditioner in Louisiana is simply a must, and I was pleased to see a decrease in my electric bill of more than $80 in the first month I used the Frigidaire window unit. I now run only this small unit during the daytime and use the central only overnight. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase of this air conditioner. In fact, it has met my expectations so well that I am now considering installing one more identical unit to mount in a window at the back of the house, so that I can possibly turn off that expensive central unit altogether. Can't wait to see the savings there! I definitely would recommend this air conditioner to anyone considering a window mounted unit.

Helpful review

Need a new a/c after poor investment in a 5000 btu Fedder. The Fedder's a/c made me nuts. It ran loud, rattled & banged in the window, literally shook wiring loose inside. The plastic easy out filter did little to trap dust/lint & the internal front grilling is LOADED with lint & dirt (I washed the filter every 3 days & reinserted). Unfortunately only a/c's available in my region are select Frigidaire, Whirlpool or Kenmore. I'm looking between 6000-8000 btu. They vary in price from $279.99-$299.99 cad. I only have $344.00 at my disposal (entirety of savings). I've narrowed things down to the Frigidaire or the Whirlpool. I was seriously leaning toward Kenmore. I'd had a Kenmore 5000 btu since I was 15 yrs. old. Just gave it up 2 years ago (old, front cover broken etc., but components still in great operating shape).

Your review is very helpful. I also need something that's easy install & provides good air filtration for allergy relief.

I didn't realize you could get a good window AC unit for that price, especially not a good one! This is a very helpful article and I am going to keep this information handy.
