GE ASP05LCS1 (5200 BTU)

We bought this 5200 BTU window air conditioner about 4 or 5 years ago from a major discount chain for our sons' room. Their room, which is located at the back of our home where no other air flow reaches, is extremely humid and warm.

Before we put an air conditioner in there, they used just a ceiling fan for any type of air movement or coolness. Since we installed this window unit, however, they LOVE staying in their room. In fact, we often have to force them to go outside during the summer to do anything.

The GE air conditioner cools their room wonderfully and is not nearly as loud as the bigger BTU air conditioner we have in our living room.

Occassionally it won't seem to cool as well as it has been and we have to take the cover off and clean the coils (dust and cat hair), but that doesn't take over 10 minutes.

The screen/filter that came with the air conditioner didn't hold up very well so we've replaced it with a cheaper kind that we cut to fit over the coils. So far, that's working fine, but I wish I could find another made specifically for this air conditioner unit.

The air conditioner is also light enough that we don't have to have something on the outside of the unit to prop it up.

There's not a lot of stress on the window or window sill from this unit. It's light, as far as window air conditioners are concerned.
