GoldStar model DH305

I own a GoldsStar dehumidifier, model number DH305.
Last July I moved into an apartment in Michigan from an apartment in California. As I was born and raised in Michigan, so I remembered the humidity of the area well and was not looking forward to dealing with it. Additionally, my new apartment is on the lowest floor and built partially underground.
After moving in, I noticed that although the humidity was very high, it was fairly cool in the apartment. Having read about the health dangers of mold growing in humid rooms in apartments or homes, it occurred to me that a humidifier might be a wise idea. I had vaguely unpleasant memories of a dehumidifier from my past, smelling moldy itself. However, I mentioned the idea to others with positive response. Within a week I purchased my new GoldStar dehumidifier.
The dehumidifier has worked perfectly from the start. It has high and low fan speeds, variable humidity controls including ‘Max’, and automatic shut-off with indicator when the reservoir is full. It has a humidity dial from 1 to 10; I keep it between 2 and 3. At this level, the dehumidifier does not run constantly, but will turn on and off according to the humidity in the room.
The reservoir has a 21 pint capacity. It is emptied by removing the reservoir bucket and pouring the water out manually, or using a threaded hose connector to drain it though a hose. The bucket is removed through the front and has a handle. I remove it this way and have no trouble carrying or emptying the water. The threaded drain hose connection would work equally well.
I am very satisfied with my GoldStar dehumidifier. The size is right for my apartment; it is easy to empty and clean the bucket and does not produce any odors. It is easy to clean the air filter and front coils as well. It has made my apartment more comfortable, saved money by decreasing my air conditioner use, and decreases chances for mold growth. It has been a worthwhile investment.
