Haier HWF05XC7-2, 5,200 BTU, 9.7 EER,115 volt Air Conditioner

The HWF05XC7-2, 5,200 BTU, 9.7 EER,115 volt Air Conditioner is a window-mount unit that not only offers air cooling, but dehumidifying as well. It meets UL and cUL safety standards and is approximately 17-9/32 inches wide by 12-27/32inches deep by 12-25/32 inches high. It weighs about 36½ lbs.

Key Features:

The key features of this unit include an airflow pattern that is all top-discharge, operation that is ultra-quiet and a curtain install kit. The air conditioner dehumidifies the air and therefore a bit of water in the pan is normal and does no harm to the air conditioner.

The EnviroClean® coil is rust- and oxidation-free and the easily accessible filter is washable. The unit features two cooling settings and two fan settings as well as a two-way directional air flow.

Advantages:

There are number of advantages that you can enjoy that go far beyond the typical convenience and affordability that you normally enjoy with window-mount air conditioners.

The HWF05XC7-2 offers extra comfort and promotes a healthier environment in the home with such features as the dehumidifier and the EnviroClean filter which reduces the amount of dust and pollen in the air.

The same classes of air conditioning units available through other manufacturers offer a much higher priced product, but the overall performance is basically the same.

Haeir is known for quality and this unit is quite durable. The airflow is directed upwards rather than straight towards you which might make for an uncomfortable situation in room where you are situated directly in front of the unit.

Disadvantages:

One of the biggest disadvantages of the HWF05XC7-2 is the lack of energy saving features such as auto-on and auto-off. But, this is countered by quality and price points that consumers can rely on.

The side flaps do happen to be a little flimsy but that is basically the norm when it comes to window unit air conditioners. At times there is a bit of a paddle boat type noise due to poor drainage, but this is easily remedied through creative drilling or frequent emptying of the pan.

What Consumer’s Have Said:

Pros:
• Light weight – at a little over 36 pounds, this unit is very light.
• Easy to install – It includes everything you need to install it and set it up in your window.
• Upward flow of air – The top-flowing air means that the cooling is more concentrated and not directed straight at you.
• Comparatively quiet – as compared with comparable units from various manufacturers, this unit is either as quiet or quieter which is great if it is a bedroom unit.
• Durable – One consumer has owned hers for more than 2 years with no complaints and no issues.
• Economical – It is comparatively inexpensive and it is Energy Star compliant.
• Improves air quality – It dehumidifies the air while also removing dust and pollen.

Cons:
• Noisy – There is a noticeable “water” noise that is deemed acceptable in the user’s manual.
• Small area – It is great for smaller areas, but do not rely on it to cool a larger room.
• Inconsistent temperatures – After a long period of usage the unit tends to put out room-temperature air.
• Flimsy side flaps – Typical with window units, the side flaps are a bit flimsy.
• No auto- or energy-saving features – No auto shut-off features are available with this unit.
