Haier HWR05XC7 Window Air Conditioner

This is a good, solid, middle-of-the-line window-mounted air conditioner. It runs quietly and works very well in small spaces, such as a home office or guest room. I love the remote control that it has, too- if I'm in bed watching TV and want to turn the unit on or adjust the temperature, I don't have to get out of bed to do it. Very, very neat feature.

We needed two people to install this unit because it is deceptively heavy for its size. Most people could probably lift it by themselves; the problems start when you try to balance it on your window sill AND fasten it into place at the same time. Believe me, you do NOT want to drop this on your foot! If you have installed window-mounted air conditioners before, you'll have an easy time setting this one up.

However, the direction packet that came with it was written in a very confusing style, and I found the diagrams hard to decipher. If you're new to this, I'd recommend asking a more experienced friend to come help you to make sure that the machine is set up correctly. Also, the remote is TINY and easy to lose. However, if you do misplace it, all of the machine's functions can be directly controlled on the unit itself.

I would have given this four or five stars if not for the shoddy manual and confusing instructions.
