Holmes HAP424-U HEPA-Type Tower Air Purifier
After a month of puffy eyes and sneezing, I went to see an allergist, only to find out I had dust mite allergies! Right away, he informed of a number of things I could do to help lessen my symptoms. One of the first things he mentioned was to put an air purifier in the bedroom I sleep in to help, well, purify the air that I was inhaling every night. I asked him of any types of air purifiers in particular he would recommend, and he immediately informed me of the brand "Holmes." He mentioned he had one at home, and a good number of the patients he saw found this brand to have a wide variety of choices and models, and that I would surely find something that I'd like.
I did some research on my own to find a specific model that would cater to my needs. I needed something that was quiet, would not take up a lot of space, and would be cheap. I was able to narrow it down to a couple models, and then started to read reviews on the Holmes Hap424u Hepa-type model and afterwards was convinced this was a top notch purifier. After I purchased it, I realized my instincts were right! I did not want to deal with the hassle of having to keep returning, exchanging, and doing continual research on different air purifiers, so I was ecstatic after using the purifier for a week and not noticing any major problems with it. Since it is a tower like shape, I knocked it over once in the middle of the night as I was getting up. To my surprise, there was no damage and it continued to work fine.
The Holmes Hap4248 Hepa is a great air purifier and I am even thinking about buying a two more to put in different rooms in the house. I would easily recommend this brand of purifiers to any friends or family. There are many pros and cons to this air purifier. The first major pro is that it is quiet! I am a very sensitive sleeper, and I was worried that if I got an air purifier, the subtle sounds it made would be enough to keep me up all night. I don't even notice the air purifier is in the room. A second pro to this air purifier is its shape. My room is not very big, and I did not want a box shaped purifier, as many are today. Sometimes when I am not using it or want to open the windows, I am able to squeeze it between the TV stand and book shelf, so it is out of my way. The air purifier unfortunately has some con's as well. Although the price may be reasonable online, I bought it from the store and it was a bit more expensive. Another con is that it does not come with a remote control, which would be nice if I needed to adjust any settings in the middle of the night. Having a remote control would allow me to stay in my warm bed and might make things a little easier.
Pros
- it is quiet
- the shape
Cons
- expensive
- no remote control
