Holmes Model: HM1761

I purchased this humidifier about three weeks ago. My room is dry, though not extremely dry, so I felt that I did not need to buy the most advanced or expensive humidifier. The humidifier does its job. My room is definitely not dry anymore, even though I only use it on the “low” setting. My first night with the humidifier, I put it on the “high” setting and I found that my windows had condensation on them, so the room was getting too moist. So, even though it’s a less expensive model, it still works!

This humidifier was by far the cheapest model at the appliance store. The instructions were very simple and we had no trouble figuring out how to use the humidifier, including filling the tank and installing the filter. Our humidifier is not an unattractive model; it’s small and fits conveniently on my bedside table. The colors are simple and there is one small switch for the “off”, “low”, and “high” settings. There is also a dial that indicates whether or not the filter is still good.

The hum of the humidifier is a little loud. On the “low” setting, the hum is as loud as a big fan set to “high”. However, the noise is not obtrusive because it is consistent. My partner and I find the noise comforting while we sleep. I would rate this humidifier 4/5.

Two positive things about this humidifier (pros) are: 1) The humidifier is small and light and 2) The humidifier is very inexpensive. Two negative things (cons) are: 1) The humidifier fits together, but the structure is a bit flimsy. I have knocked the tank out of the base a couple of times 2) The dial that is supposed to indicate whether or not the filter is good or bad took a few nights before it accurately showed that the filter was “good”. We had just purchased the humidifier, but it said “bad” for quite a while. I don’t really trust this dial.

All in all though, I am very happy with my purchase.
