Honeywell Enviracaire 18155 SilentComfort Permanent True HEPA Air Purifier

y Air Purifier is an amazing investment. I use it almost all of the time, and definitely whenever I get sick. Last year, due to my work, I never got the chance to clean the house, and it was almost always very dusty and grimy.

Because of that, there was always dust in the air and it got into my lungs and on some nights I couldn't even sleep because it was so dusty and I was coughing horribly. But thankfully, one of my friends was very happy with their Air Purifier and suggested it to me.

The next day I went and got my Honeywell and it was one of the best decisions I have made. It cleaned up my bedroom air and I can breathe so easily now, and I fall asleep incredibly fast due to the astounding air quality of my home.

I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is having trouble breathing in their house, or would like to try an amazing new Air Purifier. The Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Air Purifier has my complete satisfaction, but there are a couple negatives about it.

I really wish that it was big enough and powerful enough to cover the entire home, but it isn't and it only is strong enough to clean and purify my own room. That's all I really need though. Also, you need to change the filter on it rather occasionally and it can be somewhat of a hassle to have to change it.

But regardless of small negatives like that, the Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Air Purifier is an amazing investment, because it can purify the air around you, and make you breathe easier and make you live healthier and better. And just as important, you can buy it for under 10 dollars which makes it a stunning deal.

I purchased this model because of a review that stated it was only needing to be cleaned 4 times a year on average. I was amazed at how much this unit actually caught. I end up cleaning this unit once a month to keep it running optimally. Since using this product I am breathing easier. I have asthma and have noticed a considerable decrease in times where I have to use my inhaler. This unit is extremely easy to clean. Just by popping out the catch filter and running it under some warm water is all that it takes.

Operating this piece is also very easy. The units appearance is very pleasant. It fits anywhere in my residence with no issue. The unit is very quiet and if anything sounds pleasant. It is very energy efficient. I saw almost no jump in my energy bill which was a pleasant surprise considering I have it running all the time. The home has a fresher smell and the cat and dog scent that has been lingering from the past owners is gone. It seems to also clear up the stuffiness of the winter time when having to keep the windows closed.

Overall, this air purifier has really changed our lives. Our home feels better and we feel better. This is a purchase I would make over and over again. This unit was purchased for around $130 on sale. We have easily saved that much in air fresheners, filters, and inhalers. Best dollar for dollar deal on the market today.

Consumer Reports rated the 18155 as "fair" and "poor" for high speed and low speed dust and smoke removal, ranking it number 22 of 30. This air cleaner is advertised as providing 6 air changes per hour in an 11' x 17' room. That's 187 sq. ft., down some from the 230 awarded by AHAM during the CADR certification. Room size ratings, based on continuous high speed operation, are a sure disappointment for consumers.

These machines are not quiet enough to run on high with human activity, especially sleeping, in the room. I recommend the 18155 for 144 sq. ft. rooms, a medium 12 x 12 bedroom, at the most. The standard carbon impregnated polyester wrap-around prefilter (#38002, $12.00) can easily be washed or merely vacuumed without removal. I use these on my round Honeywells until they fall apart, over a year. They provide only modest odor, and very little toxic chemical, removal when new. New 18155s have the "lifetime" HEPA glass fiber air filters advertised as never needing replacement. Otherwise, they are identical to 18150.

The new filters are sturdy enough for repeated vacuumings. Some users report needing to replace these anyway. The cause of this may be the natural poor sealing of the wrap around prefilter. This is secured by velcro strips which can be too loosely fastened. After repeated washings, the prefilters shrink, allowing gaps along the edges. Large airborne dust, insect fragments, and hairs enter and clog the filter. I use scotch tape to seal the prefilter edges to the round Honeywell filters. Then I just vac gingerly. This extends prefilter life and protects the HEPA from deep penetration by large fragments. A filter timer, with light, reminds users when to vac the Honeywell 18155's filters. It uses alot of electricity, but it purifies the air efficiantly. It is on the small side, but convenient. Thank You!

I absolutely love this air filter. I was diagnosed with severe allergies nearly two years ago and this filter has made a huge difference. My friend who is severely allergic to cats can’t be in our house…unless she is is sitting next to the filter. She literally has sneezing fits UNLESS she is next to the filter. Then, she has no problems.

The dual-stage filtration has eliminated most of the allergens and dust from our home. I can tell a difference when I sleep away from home. It is truly remarkable that on device can so effectively reduce my allergy problems. The filters are easy to clean and replace.

However, replacement filters are somewhat expensive. But, its worth it. It is quiet enough to run on medium in our bedroom. It truly is an excellent product.
