Hunter Palermo One-Light Five-Blade Ceiling Fan

by Laura
(London, UK)

Ceiling fans are a lot cheaper than air-conditioning and a lot more environmentally friendly too. This unit is a fan and light combination, with a bright central light fixture and then a rotating five blade fan.

It’s great for cooling in summer, but it’s also good in the colder months as you can use it to make sure the heat gets all the way through a room. This unit is also pretty easy on the eye as the lamp has a smart polished metal finish and the blades look like real wood.

Even when operating at full speed this fan is also surprisingly quiet, and doesn’t hum too loudly. There are three different speeds for the fan, and the light comes with a dimmer. You even get a remote control, so setting it however you want couldn’t be simpler.

The only complaint I have is that the light bulb – I think it’s a 22 Watt fluorescent bulb can be a little bit harsh, but you can always dim it down. The remote control is a big plus, as you can control the fan from anywhere in the room. It’s also energy star rated, which is great.

The mounting is also variable, so you can have it pretty close to the ceiling, or up to a foot lower.
