Ionic Pro 90lP1RIP04 Air Purifier
I bought this particular brand of air purifier because it seemed less expensive than other ionic purifiers, and several of my friends owned it. The air purifier itself is about thirty inches tall, and shaped like a triangular column. One downside is that it only comes in black, so it stands out somewhat in my very light-colored home. I was happy to discover that it was extremely quiet, and that I did not need to purchase or replace air filters for it. When the ionic collection plates inside get dusty, you can simply wash them off with a wet paper towel or dustless rag. When the air purifier is on, it is totally silent until the collection plates start getting a lot of dust on them. Then it starts making fairly loud and ongoing zapping noises, which mean you need to take the plates out and clean them. This is slightly confusing, because you can’t just lift the plates out, you must rest the air purifier on its side and slide them out. It can be a little fiddly, but you can feel when they pop out.
However, after you have had your air purifier for some time, it seems to get more sensitive to accumulating dust and particles and you have to clean it more often. It seems fairly well built, and the cord and plug are very sturdy – the plug has three prongs. A longer plug would be nice, or a plug that retracts into the base of the air purifier, but the length has not been a problem for me so far. I have owned my air purifier over a year, and it is still running perfectly, although I do not run it every day.
Pros
- It is very silent
- Collection plates are very easy to clean
Cons
- The cord is short.
- The plates make an annoying buzzing or zapping noise when they need to be cleaned
