Ionic Pro CA-500 Air Purifier (Black)
I've had a lot of bad air purifiers in my time. The worst one I had had a computer-controlled input panel, that within a week or so crashed and never recovered. Others have had filters that are expensive and hard to find. So, when I found the Ionic Pro, which had a simple button on top, and no filters, I thought it would be a dream come true – if only it actually worked. It was over $100 to purchase, so I found myself feeling skeptical. Can it be so simple? No filters? Just wash the removable plates? No fan? How can it accomplish anything? But I had read some good reviews about it, and decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did. It uses very little electricity, but cleans an entire room of dust and aromas. Just plug it in and turn it on. It's that simple. If you have it on high power, you will certainly have a clean room. If you have it on low power, you will have a clean room, but it takes longer. When it's time to clean the plates, it starts making occasional bug-zapper sounds. It helps to have an additional set of plates handy to swap out, that way you don't have to wait for them to dry.
Pros
- no filters to clean
- no complicated programmable interface
Cons
- when cleaning the plates, have to wait for them to dry completely before inserting
