Ionic Pro Turbo Air Purifier Model #TA500

I live close to a cement factory, and my place was getting really dusty really fast. I could not imagine what my lungs looked like. So I decided to invest in an air purifier. I first bought one with a filter but it was too noise, and sucked a whole lot of power, so I decided to try the ionizer one.

It is not the best air cleaner, although it does clean the air, but not as well as the motor and filter one. I had to buy two just to get a clean living room. The rest of the apartment continued as dusty and dirty. This product is also extremely expensive. I paid One hundred and seventy dollars for each of the units, but I figured that my health was more important and if it worked well, it was well worth fit. It works, but not well enough.

Also the H3 smell that it emanates is very very strong. After I bought it, I actually read review that the amount of H3 that units like this emanate are harmful to your health. Now I am scared to turn them on, But if I leave the off, I get the cement dust. I guess I could go back to the old energy inefficient and noisy one, at least it did not cause cancer. I am not sure what to do at this point, as all air purifiers have major drawbacks.

The positive thing about this unit is that it is very aesthetically pleasing. it will look good next to your entertainment center, and flat screen tv. It is very slick. It is also very light and easy to transport. Not bulky at all, and will fit good in any corner of a room. The color always matches good with the rest of the furniture. It has no noise at all, and the power consumption is very low. It will not hurt your power bill at all.

Other than that it is a big disappointment. Stay away from it. And do some research before buying yourself a air purifier. It is one of the hardest buys ever. Specially because they are so expensive. I thought about returning the ones I bought, but I really need a good air purifier, and I am afraid they are all going to have the same problems, so I might as well stick with the ones I have.

On a scale of 0-5 with 0 bring the worse, this product would rate a 2.

Pros: - Silent - Light on power consumption
Cons - Very strong smell of H3 - Might be harmful to health

Faulty Merchandise
by: Bob

Purchased the Ionic Pro TA500 Feb 2011 for small office space. Product worked as advertised for about a month. When the first clean cycle was due, the machine was cleaned as per owners manual. Worked for about a week and the clean light came on again. After this the machine never worked again. Called customer support and that was a big joke, they give the run around. After the 5th contact I was told to return the machine, ($29.95 to return and $29.95 for them to send back to me. I paid $179.00 from Staples, before I pay $60.00 to return an item that I feel was defective, I will throw this piece of junk in the garbage and never purchase anything that I know is made or sold by this company.

very satisfied with the unit

Pros
- easy to maintain
- air quality that it produces within the room

Cons
- it tends to be noisy at moments
- accumulates quite a bit of dust and cobwebs

The Ionic Pro Turbo model is a very affordable electro-static air purifier. It works much that same as it's competitor, the more expensive Ionic Breeze from The Sharper Image store, without the $400 or so price tag. I have had this purifier for I would guess about 2 years now and I love it. It was originally purchased from wal-mart, but I am unsure if they still carry it.

As an allergy sufferer, a smoker, and someone with pets, this purifier unit has been a God send. It removes smoke from the air with ease, and leaves the room smelling of a pleasant hint of ozone, kind of like what you smell when it is raining. It also does a great job on whatever cat dander and dog hair might be floating around in the room. It features a UV system which kills any viruses, bacteria or mold that it comes in contact with - very nice during cold and flu season, we rarely get sick since we have been using it. It requires little maintenance except for taking out the metal filter unit and wiping it with a damp cloth to remove the filtered material - it can also get VERY dirty before it needs to be cleaned. Mine has to be cleaned about every 3 - 4 weeks, and we are smokers and have pets; not bad.

Overall I am very satisfied with this unit. It has been relatively problem free and I haven't had any major complaints with it. The main pros of this unit would be ease of maintenance for one, and the air quality that it produces within the room. The main drawback of this unit is that it tends to be someone noisy at moments, making a slight buzzing/hissing sound when it is actively cleaning, but that just means it needs to be cleaned (there is a thing in the back of it to clean the ionizer wire, that's where the noise comes from). The other drawback is over time, the front of the unit accumulates quite a bit of dust and cobwebs if not cleaned regularly.

an OK product

Pros
- it is easy to use
- it is quiet

Cons
- it is expensive
- takes up space

I bought the Ionic Pro Turbo Ionic Air Purifier at bed, bath and beyond for $180. They told me that I could return it at any time if I decided that I did not want it anymore. I used it for at least a month. I honestly did not notice any difference what so ever from using it. I have really bad allergies and am forced to keep my carpet in my apartment. I was really hoping that by getting this it would help keep me from sneezing and having a runny nose all the time inside. I hate to say it but it did not do anything.

It was quiet enough that I could not tell it was even there which was good. It is also alittle big and takes up space. I felt like it did not do anything and therefore was really a waste of space. I kept having to move it around to find a good place to put it. It is easy to use you just have to push a button to turn it on and off. It seemed very easy to clean also.

I have not used other air purifiers this is my first one. Although I was alittle disappointed with it, it seems like an okay product. Maybe its just me that it did not work for. It was quite a bit of money though. I don’t like to waste money on products that I don’t think work. Therefore I returned it in the end.
