Kenmore 50-pint Dehumidifier (w/ electronic controls)
I bought this product last year and it worked fine for straight out of the box. At first I was skeptical of the electronic controls because I wondered why I really needed it (is it that hard to turn a handle?) but I went with it because I needed to 50 pint size.
I had difficulty emptying the bucket because it always seemed to get caught on something, so it was a little frustrating but it was getting the moisture out of our basement so I just dealt with it.
At the end of the season, I always like to clean out the bucket and the area around it to make sure that it doesn’t mold. Well, there was already mold in it which was really surprising because we emptied it regularly and we had only run it for one season. It was RIDICULOUSLY HARD TO CLEAN! I was so disappointed and increasingly frustrated.
This year when I turned it on, it was really loud. I mean, really loud. It is in the basement and you can hear it on the first floor when all of the doors are closed to the basement.
Even though it has been a really wet spring and very humid in our house, it just doesn’t seem to be pulling the moisture out of the air. I don’t want to toss it because we just bought it last season but I am really hoping this thing breaks so that I can buy a new one that works.
I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.
