My Amana Air Conditioner

I bought an Amana and never looked back it cools my house off and fast. It has three settings low med and high. Also a little temp knob so you can adjust just how cold you want it.

It fits easily in most windows because of the adjustable sides and I got it for a good price. I really like it because I can make it sub-arctic temperatures and do it fast.

It can be 90 degrees and my Amana will make it less than 60 in less then a few minutes. I also like that my friends like it, they come in and comment on how cold my house is and how good it feels to walk into you see unless you just leave it on all the time it takes time for an air conditioner to work, not this one, give it five minutes and its cold.

Awww, yes this was one of the better purchases I have made. I love to kick back and think about all the suckers that are sweating to death in their 90 plus degree homes waiting for their air conditioner to kick in. while I wonder where I put my extra blankets because I’m too cold.

Amana 4 ton 16 seer Unit
by: DJS in Dallas

We just had a new Amana ac/heat unit installed in our home. It replaced a 20+ year old unit. It runs quietly and cools great. It kicks on every 30 minutes or so and runs for about 15 to 20 minutes and cools the house down fast. In this north central Texas heat wave (107 degrees today), that amazes me. The old unit ran all day long without every shutting off and never cooled the house down enough to be comfortable which is why it had to be replaced. If I had known how lousy the old unit was, I would have replaced it years ago with an Amana.

Tax rebate for energy efficiency..?
by: Viva

I recently got the Amana 130361AD air conditioning and heating unit installed outside. I had the service man do it during a cold, rainy time last year so that it would be ready before the hot weather came.

California can get very hot in late spring, summer, and even fall, but this unit is extremely helpful in that regard. It is durable and built to withstand all kinds of weather conditions. The base fit on the existing concrete slab so that we did not have to get another one poured.

Also, it is not too noisy if we have the windows closed, so it does not bother us too much when it is running. It cools the house very well and goes off when the temperatures have equalized. Amana is a well known and popular brand, and for good reasons. It is dependable, strong, and efficient. I have recommended this particular unit to others.

Our installer also said that it was a very good manufacturer, and it turns out that he was right. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose this Amana model because it has never let us down. Southern California Edison was happy to see that we had installed an energy efficient unit such as this one.

We plan to tell our tax preparer about it as well. I believe we might have gotten some kind of rebate on it because of its energy efficiency. Even if we did not, it is still worth it because it saves us money in the long run. It is a good investment to make.

We do not have to pay nearly as much in cooling costs as some of our neighbors do. I wish that they would upgrade to this particular model, since it would really pay off later for them.

A great unit at a great value
by: Jon Fitts

This is a review of a brand new Amana unit, which was installed on january 13, 2009.

The outside unit is quite a bit more bulky than my previous unit, to the tune of being about 4 feet tall instead of 2, so it has a much larger overall footprint.

The fan on the unit seems efficient, and is fairly quiet. This is a heat pump unit, and has a freon filled copper tube going to the air handler upstairs, which vibrates quite loudly. This seems to be an installation issue, as opposed to unit construction.

The units performance is adequate, and it cycles much less frequently than the older unit, keeping my house warmed, and presumably saving me some money on my electric bill. This is a SEER 14 unit, which means it produces 14 BTUs of heat per 1 watt used, according to my research. This means its much more efficient than the SEER 10 unit its replacing.

The size of the unit was explained as being a direct correlation to its SEER rating, basically the size of the cooling coils directly affects its efficiency, meaning that generally a bigger unit will be more efficient than a similar small unit, though this of course may be different based on engineering.

The cost of the unit was far below similar units by other higher end brands, such as Trane or Carrier. The comparable Trane unit would have been almost 2 times more expensive.

The actual workmanship of the product seems in line with the trane equivalents, and seem a much stronger value.

The unit also came with one of the best warranties in the business, 10 years parts and labor on all parts, and lifetime on the compressor. I was told by the company that installed it that their warranty fulfillment was also one of the easiest in the business, and they would usually replace the whole unit, as opposed to just the failed part.

Overall, this seems to be a great unit, and a great value.
