Oreck XL professional air purifier

We have owned two Oreck XL professional air purifiers for about 3 years now. They capture and destroy bacteria. The Oreck XL came with an optional charcoal filter. If your house hasa tendency to be dusty, this product will help keep the dust level to a minimum at a very low cost. The filtration system is easily cleaned with a common household cleaner and warm water. No other filter is needed for your Oreck XL professional air purifier.

There is also an ionizer function on this unit to help clean the air in your home or office. Also, a fragrance cartridge that fits into the unit discreetly is readily available. The unit also informs you when cleaning is necessary. We have a son with asthma and seasonal allergies. After installing the air purifier, we noticed a definite lessening in his allergy symptoms and in the severity of his asthma.

We also have dogs and cats. In our experience, this system has cut down dramatically on the amount of animal dust in our home. The Oreck Professional Air Purifier is compact, quiet, and unobtrusive. I am proud to say that I own this product it has improved the quality of the air in our home dramatically. I would never consider buying a different product since I have owned the Oreck XL professional air purifier.

In my opinion this product should be rated as a 4.5.

The only drawbacks would be the initial cost of the unit and the need to purchase additional charcoal filters, if desired.

The best features of this product are its quiet function and that it is easily cleaned.

If you are considering buying an Oreck XL professional air purifier I would highly recommend that you buy this product because the positives highly outweigh the negatives.

I truly enjoy my Oreck air purifier. Since using my air purifier my family seems to get sick less often and it has cut back slightly on my allergies. I have 2 dogs and a cat and the entire family seems to breath easier since we've been using the air purifier. I especially like the power settings; high, medium and silent. This way, during the day I can run my purifier on high for the maximum impact, but can choose silent for a quieter sleep environment. Another added bonus is the optional fragrance cartridge. It will run without it but I like the option of adding a nice fresh clean scent to the room occassionaly.

The Oreck is also very easy to clean, just soaking and rinsing! The only down side to this particular purifier is that it does take up a lot of space. I have mine in a bedroom and it takes up a large area of my dresser top. A free standing model might be better suited to people with limited furniture surface area or counter space. However, it is a very attractive air purifier and seems to blend in well to the bedroom setting so it hardly noticeable. One other downside of this model is that it does seem to need cleaning often, and although the process is easy it does take time to dry before reassembling.

The Oreck XL has done an exceptional job in helping to purify the air inside my home. As a family we live in a rural area with many pollens, dust and allergy inducing particles. The air purifiers were purchased as an aid for my daughter who has both allergies and asthma. I expected the Oreck XL to be helpful in improving her quality of life. I did not expect the Oreck XL to make such a dramatic change and virtually eliminate allergens and thus allergic reactions in our home.

The models work well despite any placing, obstacles or distance ( walls, doors, turns, stairs (up/down), floors, etc. etc.) The models also work equally well with the windows open or closed, which was a huge relief for me, as I had fears of having to keep our home shut up and air tight for the purifiers to be effective. The Oreck XL has proven to be an extremely reliable model and has not needed any maintenance other than regular cleaning since we purchased the models a little over 3 years ago (It is now; 08/28/2010).

An added bonus is also that they are extremely quiet, so much so that they can not be noticed unless you are literally right on top of them and straining to hear the motor. These models also come with a generous guarantee and warranty. I can not recommend this product more and am very pleased with my purchase.

too costly to have it stop functioning after only one year

- It is also sometimes difficult to find the filters

When I bought this air purifier at first it worked very well. I bought it to help clean the air of cigarette smoke in the house because I am slightly allergic. It had an ionizer and uses HEPA filtration technology. It was really easy to clean and it has a light that lets me know when the filters need to be replaced. I have begun to have problems with my unit though, it used to run silently and now about a year after I bought it, it is too loud for me in silent mode.

The filters are kind of costly, and they do need to be replaced. Also at least my unit stopped functioning properly in about a year. It is also sometimes difficult to find the filters. It is just too costly to have it stop functioning after only one year.
