Secure Air SA1200 UVGI Room Air Sterilizer/Purifier
We bought this for our son's room. He had trouble with a persistent cough that lingered for several months. No one was sure what it was but we were told it could possibly be allergies. We researched air purifiers and bought this one at Home Depot for about $60.
Overall we are satisfied with it and believe it was worth the money. While we don't know what caused his cough in the first place and can not verify if this helped it, the cough did finally stop within a month of using this air purifier. The one thing I noticed almost immediately was a cleaner smell in the room when the unit is on. The unit itself works well for our medium sized bedroom, is very quiet, extremely easy to operate, and our research showed it comes from a reliable manufacturer. We read different things about the effectiveness of the unit compared to where it's placed in the room. Since it is small and we are unsure of it's actual effective range, we placed it next to his crib and feel better that it is more likely to clean the air around him the closer he is to it.
As an added bonus the unit works well at emitting a soothing humming sound along with a very faint blue light (the UV lamp) which can be seen at night. The combination of these two things seems to attract our son's attention and in our opinion helps lull him to sleep. We would recommend this air purifier to others, but would caution that it might be a good idea to look into the next model up if your room is bigger than most regular sized bedrooms.
Pros
- Good value for very good quality
- Quiet and effective
Cons
- Not a lot of options on the device (basically an on/off button)
- Device is so small and the air just doesn't seem to circulate everywhere in the room
