Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GP

by Claire
(Eugene, OR)

Two years ago I purchased one of the larger Ionic Breeze air purifiers from The Sharper Image. We have three cats and two ferrets, so we bought it with the intention of neutralizing their smell.

Our decision to go with Sharper Image was the result of two factors:

1. A good maintenance/warranty plan provided by the store (though it is somewhat expensive to add). You can bring your item back in to the store any time you have a problem with it.

2. We have purchased a number of items from Sharper Image before, and feel that it is a reliable company that sells quality products.

The pros of the product: The Sharper Image Ionic Breeze is exceptionally quiet, so you will barely notice it. In addition this air purifier looks modern and fits in well with our interior, so it does not look like some bulky appliance standing in the middle of your living room.

The Ionic Breeze quickly and efficiently keeps our living room free of pet smells and other unpleasant smells, and the amount of space the device covers is surprisingly large.

The cons of the product: There is very little that I dislike about this product, with the exception of one thing, which some people may consider a serious negative aspect: The emission of ozone. I am uncertain as to whether or not this is actually dangerous to human health.

Clearly there is no immediate health threat, but I am concerned about long term exposure. You can smell the ozone as well, emitted from the Ionic Breeze.

It's a very strange smell, and in small rooms it becomes rather overwhelming. In larger rooms however it's no problem.

customer service was of no help
by: Anonymous

Pros
- it is quie
- no need to buy more expensive filters

Cons
- just stopped working
- not covering a big enough square foot range

I received my Ionic Breeze Air Purifier as a gift because I have allergies. I was so excited to try it! The first thing I noticed about it is its sleek design, it fits anywhere with any décor, and it is easy to use. It has a very quiet hum and an LED blue light so you don't trip over it during the night. One of the best features of this air purifier is that the filters are essentially dust magnets and instead of buying more expensive replacement filters, you simply turn off the device, pull up the metal filter, and wipe off the dust and pollens with a towel. It’s that quick, and economic.

I had my filter running most of the 24 hours in a day and after about 2 straight weeks of use, it completely stopped on me. I tried several things as indicated by the manual as well as online troubleshooting but nothing worked. When I spoke to customer service to get a replacement they needed some information I didn’t have as it was a gift and the one that gifted it to me had passed away. Customer service was unyielding so I was not only out a new air purifier but I lost my faith in their company and products. Before it broke, I would have given it a 5, but after it broke and customer service was of no help, I have to go with a 1.
