Sharper Image SI719 Air Purifier

This air purifier does not take up much space and is not an eyesore. I like that is is completely silent and easy to clean. However, I have been using it for 2 years now and it is getting dirty in places that are next to impossible to clean without disassembling the whole unit.

The purifier is silent unless it is dirty then it makes quite a bit of noise that sounds like static electricity shock noises and hissing noises. It can get very loud!

Even if you keep it very clean, over time parts of the unit that are not meant to be user servicable will become dirty and cause the unit to shed dirt dust and whatever else it sucked out of the air onto the surfaces directly near and around it.

Other than this issue i am happy with this purifier. it has lasted very long and still operates well. I love how the air coming out of it smells very fresh and clean. I also like that this model converts O3 to O2. The user servicable part is very easy to clean by just wiping it under the faucet and allowing to dry for 24 hours and the unit does not require filters or any additional cost of ownership other than the very little electricity that it uses.

I have had this purifier in small apartments where the tennants and guests were smoking often and the apartment never held onto an unplesant smell while this air purifier was running. I have learned while using this device that it is not a good idea to use it to filter marijuana smoke out of the air.

It works very well for this purpose but is not good for the unit. The resin from the marijuana smoke builds up inside the unit and on difficult to clean parts and is very difficult to remove without using alcohol or other similar solvent.
