Soleus Air CFM - 40 Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat

I am not a reviewer or a person who used to read reviews for items I wished to buy, but my experience in going thru a variety of dehumidifiers in order to get one that works well has opened my eyes. We bought a new home that has an unfinished basement. We decided to finish it and have subsequently started to use the basement on a regular basis and quickly noticed that we were developing mold and mildew (we probably were before but did not really notice it). So I purchased a dehumidifier which was awful. Returned that one and bought another and did this 3 more times. Finally I did a little research. The Soleus Air CFM - 40 Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat got great reviews so that was the one I bought.

This has 3 fan settings, medium high and quiet. This is great for us, because when we are downstairs we switch it to quiet and you cannot hear it. The other dehumidifiers you needed a headset to hear yourself think. It also has 4 settings for humidity levels. The settings are 50, 60 and 70 percent so you can make it as dry as you want. We find that when we are in the room we leave it at 50% and turn it up to 70% when we are not using the basement. The unit is on wheels as well as has a handle. So it is relatively easy to move around. The reservoir tank is easy to remove and has a handle on it so it can easily be emptied without much muss or fuss.

The Soleus Air CFM does through out a lot of heat, but no more then the other dehumidifiers that I had tried. You have to make sure it is well vented. Additionally always check the filter which needs to be cleaned every few weeks with a vacuum if you are always using it like we do. We have no way of conveniently running a hose to the humidifier so we use the reservoir tank. But there is the capability of attaching a hose to the Soleus if you have a window or drain to snake the hose to.

One drawback to this is that if you have a power outage the dehumidifier does not reset itself. Not a big deal just as long as you remember to reset it. Pros Easy to move Quiet Multiple fan and humidity settings Cons If the power goes out it does not reset itself Puts out a lot of heat I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars and would highly recommend it to anybody.
